In Memory of Gary Harris - Managing Director
4 November 1944 to 3 December 2013
Gary's contracting career spanned 40 years, ploughing his first paddock at the age of 8 years.
Gary left school and the family dairy farm to work for his Uncle's earthmoving business during the summer and managing his billiard and snooker saloon in winter.
Gary worked for Neil Construction as Site Supervisor in the early days and founded HEB Drainage in 1975 to successfully complete subdivisions and roading projects.
Gary and Dianne sold HEB Drainage in 1984 and Gary became a successful Thoroughbred Race Horse Trainer but with the decline in the racing industry, went back to civil construction founding Jesmond Construction Ltd in 1994 employing their son Dean Harris, teaching him drain laying and general civil works and Tania Jones, their daughter who has grown with the business managing the office and health & safety.
Since 1994 the company have built up a reputation of completing very diverse projects and with over 390 projects on their c.v. Gary has left behind a legacy of honesty, integrity and a work ethic second to none.
Dianne Harris has now taken over as Director and with the Management Team of Tania Jones, Colin Woolliams and Piet Botma, Jesmond Construction is set for another 20 years of completing diverse projects in the Auckland area.

National Diploma Surveying Level 6 (10 years working for a survey & design company), Order of St John Work Place First Aid, Transit NZ Level 1,2,3 Site Traffic Management Supervisor/TC, Sutherlands Environmental Performance Training of good environmental management practices in the contracting industry, Summit Systems Confined Space Training.
Project Manager on site, in charge of survey and set out, the daily management of Jesmond employees and sub contractors. Colin has recently managed the VDB Retail Development on the corner of Te Irirangi Drive and Great South Road, Manukau City. This $5.9 million contract, over a two year period encompassed everything from initial demolition, site set out and survey, excavation of some 43,000m3 materials, construction of two basement car parks, roading, car parks, drainage, all services, lighting, landscaping and the upgrade of Great South Road, Manukau with the installation of traffic lights. Colin has shown he is totally competent in managing a project as this project was a lump sum project and it came in on time within budget.
